GDC Darhal celebrates Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav

RAJOURI, Nov 8: A poster making competition on the theme "75 Years of Independence" was organized by Govt Degree College (GDC) Darhal in which students of all the three semesters Sem-I, Sem-III and Sem-V participated by preparing posters displaying Red Fort, National Flag, British Atrocities on Indians, Revolt of 1857, Jalian Wala Bagh, Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chander Bose and some posters displayed Civil Disobedience Movement, Quit India Movement and Khilafat Movement. Principal of the college Prof Sumanesh Jasrotia congratulated the students for large scale participation in the poster making competition on the theme 75 Years of Independence. He said that such competitions arouse the feeling of oneness among the students and create love, affection and patriotic thinking for their motherland.
He also threw light on Mahatma Gandhi's policy of non-violence and civil disobedience. He also highlighted the contribution of freedom fighters Jawahar Lal Nehru, Sardar Patel, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Subhas Chandra Bose and Bhagat Singh. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ahsan Ul Rehman Rizvi appreciated the students of the college in participating in the poster making competition on a very significant topic 75 Years of Independence. He said that such competitions provide golden opportunities to the students to know about the sacrifices laid down by the freedom fighters and get motivation from the such sacrifices. Overall 10 students took part in the competition. Atika, Simran and Tayba were adjudged first, second and third respectively. Dr Asif, Dr Mukhtiar, Mahwish and Farzana were the Jury Members. The proceedings of the prize distribution function were conducted by Dr Riaz HOD Persian. Others present on the occasion were Qayoom, Safeer, Avez and Saddam. The programme was attended by a large number of students of the college.
