SRS reiterates demand of full-fledged Duggar channel
11/19/2021 10:46:56 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 19: Shri Ram Sena (SRS) urged the Central Government to consider the long pending demand of people of Jammu region regarding an exclusive satellite channel in Dogri.
Addressing media persons here today, Rajiv Mahajan, President SRS J&K termed it unfortunate that after an abrogation of Article 370 still the problems of Jammu people remain the same. "There is already the Kashir Channel doing its job in Kashmiri and Urdu language in the Valley but there is dire need for providing an exclusive satellite Channel for a very high population spread over vast areas in Jammu region and beyond in POJ&K," said Rajiv.
Rajiv said the Dogri language, already in the 8th Schedule of Constitution, is spoken widely along with Gojri, Pahari and other languages both within and across the Indo-Pak order. It is a challenging task and rightly a litmus test before Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Government in Jammu and Kashmir in the present context, he said.
Rajiv said that full-fledged Duggar Channel from Jammu is strongly justified on the grounds that it will meet the cultural & linguistic aspiration of Dogras & other ethnic groups living in Jammu region. "It will showcase the diverse culture of this region to the whole of the world showing Jammu as an outstanding example of peaceful co-existence," he said.
