Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 20: Dr Parneesh Mahajan, Convener Department of Training, Jammu and Kashmir BJP asserted that it is for the first time that Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing such an enormous development that people have become spellbound to see what is happening in the vicinity because what they had heard about is becoming a reality in the Union Territory. In a statement issued to media today, the senior BJP leader lauded the Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for approving works on major National Highways and roads worth about Rs 3900 crore in the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, and the neighbouring State of Punjab including construction of Akhnoor-Poonch road on National Highway 144-A.
Dr Parneesh said that people are on 'cloud nine' after listening to news of new projects becoming a reality day after day because during the regimes of earlier governments there were seldom any announcements and if by chance something was announced it took centuries to complete the same. He said that take the example of Jammu-Udhampur Rail Line which was envisaged by the Congress Government and took over quarter century to ensure that a train chugs on this track. He said on the contrary the projects envisaged under Modi government are being completed in record times and people at times get astonished as the pace of development is faster than lightning. He said the sanction and approval of road projects in J&K will act as a game changer and will help in long due socio-economic progress which will change the course of life of people. Giving specific instances of Delhi-Katra Expressway and Akhnoor-Poonch national highway, Dr Parneesh said that these projects are testimony to the fact that the Modi government is quite serious as far as development of the UT J&K is concerned. He said that people have now understood well that there is no match to the Modi government as the way things are rolling in the country especially in J&K, no government in the past has achieved anything closer to this.
