JAMMU, Nov 20: J&K Society for Promotion of Youth and Masses (J&KSPYM) organised a Health cum awareness Camp and CBT Camp for community members in Prem Nagar Jammu.
The camp was inaugurated by Reetu chowdhary, Corporator Prem Nagar. The objective of this camp is to conduct health checkup for the community members affected of drug use (injecting), and aware the community members about HIV/AIDS, ill effects of drug use, sexually transmitted infection etc.
Dr. Arvind Sharma conducted the check-up along with other staff members of the NGO who also provided counselling and information about ill effects of drug use. Information giving and counselling on HIV/AIDS was one of the main activities of the camp besides health check -up. The other activities that are conducted in the camp are free distribution of medicines and condoms. Around 50 clients got registered in the camp and went through health check-up counselling. Pamphlets having massage on HIV/ AIDS, Sexually transmitted infection, Ill effects of drug use, safer practices etc. printed in local language is also distributed among the community.
Pallavi Singh Project Director JKSPYM mentioned that the NGO, JKSPYM is actively involved in drug use treatment and HIV/AIDS prevention among drug users since last 20 years. |
