Sunrise Public School celebrates National Milk Day

JAMMU, Nov 26: In India, November 26 is celebrated as National Milk Day, since 2014, to commemorate the birthday of the father of India’s White Revolution, Dr Verghese Kurien (also nicknamed as Milkman of India). The day was fixed by all the dairy majors of the country including the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), the Indian Dairy Association (IDA), along with 22 state-level milk federations.
Rajesh Sharma, founder of Sunrise Public School said that milk is the best food. Everyone should consume milk on daily basis.
A competition of drinking milk was organized at different levels according to the age and milk requirements of a child. A quiz for senior children was organized on milk.
Manpreet Kour, founder Director explained the importance of milk through a presentation.
In her presentation she emphasized on the nutrition obtained from mother’s milk.
The teachers of the school Parminder Kaur and Asha encouraged the students to drink milk and comprised of a colouring competition, cooking class where the child learnt to make banana shake with the help of spoon in a glass and a mimicry of cow competitions for tiny- tots.
The students enjoyed the day. The aim of organizing this programme was to motivate the children to drink milk in this era of processed and packaged food and to educate the students about the nutritive value of the milk.
