JAMMU, Nov 26: Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, organized a prestigious literary programme with two eminent Dogri writers in a very well attended function at K L Sehgal Hall, Jammu. The programme was divided into two sessions –a Kavi Sandhi with the poet of eminence Dhian Singh and Katha Sandhi with prominent Dogri short story writer, Jagdeep Dubey.
Darshan Darshi (D K Vaid), convener Dogri Advisory Board of Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi presided over the function. The two outstanding litterateurs of Dogri who enthralled the audience with their Kavita and Katha, also shared their personal literary journey and commitment to popularize Dogri language and literature.
Darshi, welcomed the audience and presented the brief profile of poet and short story writer of the day. He has 43 books to his credit.
While introducing Dubey, Darshi said that besides Dogri story writing, the litterateur writes poetry and drama with equal aplomb and has established special bondage with the readers. Singh while presenting his poetry took particular case to reflect his vision of progressive writing, as also the universality and lyricism flowing spontaneously from his pen. His use of rich Dogri diction with fair spread of folk in his writing mesmerized the audience and got him very loud applause.
Dubey kept the audience deeply engaged with his skillful craft of story writing and also his captivating style of storytelling. Subjects chosen by Dubey for his stories are generally uncommon and impressive. This story reading session was heard with rapt attention and brought the writer high appreciation of the house.
The literary function was not only attended by a large number of prominent Dogri writers, intellectuals, academia, scholars, students and lovers of Dogri language and literature; but also by some well known authors of Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi.
