| NYK organises webinar on Catch the Rain campaign | | | Early Times Report
Udhampur, Dec 3: Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Udhampur organised webinar on Catch the Rain campaign as part of launch of Phase-2 of Jal Shakti Abhiyan.
The webinar aimed at making aware the youth of Blocks Ramnagar, Parlidhar, Ghordi and Chanunta about the various measures of rain water harvesting and its importance in the present scenario. The Chief Guest of the webinar Rajendra Kr. Digra (District Information Officer Udhampur) shared valuable information and addressed the participants as to how they can take initiatives to prevent free flow of water.
He urged the volunteers to plant saplings during monsoons to prevent soil erosion ultimately improving the level of water table. He added that the intrusion of man in natural phenomenon has devastated environment drastically. It can only be undone with collective efforts and with Jan Bhagidari. He also extended cooperation and focussed on various initiatives of district administration in “Catch the Rain” campaign. He also focussed on various measures through which each household can prevent wastage of water and contribute in Jal Shakti Abhiyan.
Nanak Chand Thapa (XEN Irrigation and Flood Control) was the special guest in the webinar who also addressed the participants of different initiatives taken by irrigation department associated with “Catch the Rain” campaign. He also added that people taking initiatives at their level must share their ideas and innovation with Jal Shakti Kendra established at the district headquarters. The lectures were followed by the interactive session in which Sh. Rajendra Digra gave answers to the queries of volunteer participants. He also shared his experiences and stressed upon the sustainable and judicious use of water so that upcoming generations are not affected. |
