Early Times Report

Anantnag, Dec 4: The authorities at Government Medical College Anantnag are allegedly flouting norms and are carrying on recruitment contrary to advertisement notification.
A group of aspirants told Early Times that the authorities were ‘selectively’ reserving posts for different categories.
“The GMC Anantnag administration reserved technician posts for different categories but didn’t reserve junior staff nurse posts for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Class categories despite the fact that both the recruitments are being carried under SRO-364,” they claimed, however wished anonymity.
Earlier this year, GMC Anantnag issued a recruitment notification [07GMC of 2021 dated 10.04.2021] to fill 13 posts of technician. “Candidates will be selected based on their performance in written rest,” reads job notification.
However, the job notification didn’t detail the breakdown of posts nor did it mention the number of posts reserved for different categories.
The advertisement notification also didn’t seek any category certificate from the candidates. The candidates were directed to submit educational qualification certificates and domicile certificates.
However, the aspirants say that the authorities have now reserved posts for different categories. They claimed GMC Anantnag issued another advertisement notification for filling posts of junior staff nurse posts but recruited candidates on the merit basis.
“A copy of the merit list and selected candidates is with us. The selected candidates have been selected purely on the basis of merit and the points they secured for the marks they have obtained in 10th, 12th, Diploma and Degrees,” they told ET.
Seeking intervention of LG Manoj Singh, aspirants questioned why certain posts were being reserved for categories and not all.
Principal Government Medical College Anantnag Dr Tariq Quershi however rebutted the allegations of having flouted any norms in recruitment.
“We are reserving posts for categories as per the norms,” he told this newspaper saying a few candidates who had applied for the posts of technicians want us to deprive candidates belonging to categories of their rights but we will not allow that.”
