Farooq steps in to safeguard Jammu’s interest
Says if representatives of Leh and Kargil can join hands why can't J&K leaders do the same

Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 11: Learning a lesson from Ladakh where all political parties have joined hands to safeguard the interests of their people, veteran politician and former Chief Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah has taken the initiative to bring all recognized political parties of Jammu on the same platform to fight for the rights of Jammu people. Earlier the same initiative was taken by the former minister and chairman of the Dogra Swabhiman Sangathan Choudhary Lal Singh.
According to a handout issued by the Jammu and Kashmir Panthers Party, Dr. Farooq Abdullah after his meeting with Prof Bhim Singh has proposed the meeting of all State recognized political parties on December 19, 2021, at Jammu.
Dr. Abdullah and Bhim Singh discussed the possibility of holding a meeting of all state-recognized political parties namely NC, PDP, and Panthers Party to discuss the movement for restoration of statehood and state assembly elections. Dr. Farooq Abdullah suggested the name of Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami of CPI (M) for the same meeting.
Highly placed sources said that keeping in view the prevailing anger among residents of Jammu against the present regime’s anti-people policies, Dr. Farooq Abdullah has decided to encash the situation.
During the last some days Dr. Abdullah is addressing meetings of different sections of the society in the Jammu region to gauge the mood of the people.
“It was all due to encouraging response of the people of Jammu that Dr. Farooq Abdullah has decided to mobilize different political parties on the pattern of Ladakh to launch a united movement of the people of Jammu and Kashmir regions against the present regime”, a senior NC leader told the Early Times and asked, “If people of Leh and Kargil joined hands to start an agitation for their rights why not people of Jammu and Kashmir?”.
As reported earlier, on November 8, some pro-Jammu leaders had taken an initiative to highlight issues related to the Jammu region.
The first time after the abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A, some non-BJP leaders had raised pro-Jammu issues to restrive lost ground.
Choudhary Lal Singh’s Dogra Swabhimaan Sangathan had organized a seminar on “Understanding Jammu: Challenges and Way Ahead”. In this seminar, Congress stalwart Raman Bhala, Panthers Party leader Harsh Dev Singh, DDC member from Suchetgarh Taranjit Singh Tony, and Engineer Wajid Bashir Khan had participated.
That initiative was taken to provide an alternative to BJP in Jammu province by highlighting issues of the Jammu region.
