Early Times Report

Rajouri (Nowshera), Dec 27: Dhallain village in Nowshera sector in Rajouri District has been without road connectivity and other basic amenities since 1947.
Residents said, “To reach a main road we have to cross a river as there is no bridge. During the rainy season the water level in the river increases and we are unable to cross it. We have to reach the main road through a jungle.”
They said, “If anyone falls sick, we have to collect the entire village to carry him/her to a hospital. Our village has no road connectivity. We can’t even call an ambulance.”
Residents, while pointing towards a stream, said, “Our women use this stream for washing clothes and also collect the water from it for the drinking purpose. Till date we haven’t been provided with the tap water.”
“The government school was established in our village in 1962 but teachers refuse to come here as no one wants to cross the river and then reach the school,” they said.
Residents said that many people have lost their lives while crossing the stream during the rainy season. “Our pleas to build a bridge and a proper link road that would connect our village with the main road have fallen flat in deaf ears till date,” they added.
They said that there are around 400 voters in their village and it comprises nearly 900 souls. “Whichever party has come into power till date has failed to mitigate our sufferings as the promises of the politicians have remained confined to papers only,” residents added.
