Ian Dev Singh led J&K Ranji Team leaves for Chennai

JAMMU, Feb 6: J&K Ranji Trophy Team led by Ian Dev Singh was given a rousing send off by the Management at Pavilion Building, JKCA Complex Jammu. As has been reported earlier BCCI has decided to start the Ranji Trophy Championship 2021-22 which had been suspended earlier due to Covid-19.
As per instructions by BCCI, the teams have been divided into 8 Elite Groups and one Plate Group.
Each Elite Group comprises of 4 teams and Plate group comprises of 6 teams. J&K team forms part of Elite Group C and will be competing with Karnataka, Railways and Puducherry.
The League phase will begin at Chennai from February 10 and finish on March 15. One team from each Elite group will qualify for the Quarter Finals while the lowest ranking qualified among the Elite Groups will have to play a pre quarter final match with the winner of the Plate Group.
Brig. Anil Gupta, Member Administration and Sunil Sethi, Member Legal Affairs, addressed the members of the team and motivated them to put their best efforts so that J&K can qualify for the Quarter Finals.
Keeping in view the extreme hot weather at Chennai, the management has taken a decision to dispatch the team to Chennai 4 days in advance so that the players can acclimatize and practice on the wickets therein.
The team comprises of Ian Dev Singh (Captain), Abdul Samad (VC), Qamran Iqbal, Suryansh Raina, Parvez Rasool, Shubham Pundir, Fazil Rashid (WK), Henan Malik, Abid Mushtaq, Ram Dayal, Auqib Nabi, Umar Nazir, Umran Malik, Rohit Sharma, Mujtaba Yousuf, Jatin Wadhawan, Shivansh Sharma, Sahil Lotra, Akash Choudhary, Taizeem Tak, Yudhvir Singh Charak. The Support Staff led by Head Coach Sanjeev Sharma comprises of Sandeep Singh (Manager), Irshad Hassan (Asst. Manager), Nishanta Bordoloi (Head High Performance, Strength and Conditioning Coach), Pawan Kumar (Trainer), Darshan Singh (Side Arm Throw Expert), Chirag Pandya (Physiotherapist), Idrees Danish (Video Analyst), Naresh Kumar (Masseur).
