Dogra College of Education organizes online lecture series

Jammu, Feb 7: Dogra College of Education organized an online series of extension lectures on “Planning of language and teaching subjects based on different approach”. Sr. Asst. Prof. Dr. Jaspal Singh, Coordinator B. Ed. Programme, Directorate of distance education, Department of Jammu University was the resource person on the occasion and he delivered the lecture on constructive approach.
He said that the constructive approach is based on observation and scientific study about how people learn. He also explained how teacher trainees can use the constructive approach in lessons so that the students can learn by doing and make their own experiences with the help of the five “E” components. He emphasized that learning is an active and contextualized process of constructing knowledge rather than acquiring it. The resource person solves the various queries of the faculty members and the students regarding the constructive approach at the end of the session. Asst. Prof. Dr. Meenakshi Choudhary, Department of the Education University of Jammu was the another resource person on the occasion, in her lecture she stated about the RCEM approach along with its objectives and domains. She explains the 17 mental abilities with the help of examples and explains the said approach with the help of a lesson plan. The interactive session was conducted to solve the various queries of the teacher trainees and the teacher educator at the end of the session.
Asst. Prof. Sushma Bala, Govt College of Education Jammu, Constituent college of Cluster University of Jammu, was the another resource person on the occasion and she said that teacher trainees explore the new dimensions in the field of education and the resource person explain the Herbartian approach with the help of lesson plan. She also highlighted the different components of the approach and explained them with the help of examples. Dr. Vikesh Kumar Sharma, Principal Dogra College of Education said that there should be a proper use of various approaches in the real classroom teaching and also emphasized skill-based teaching in class. He said that such kinds of lectures provide us with a very useful platform to exchange information, ideas, and experience effectively. Dr. Shefali Sharma, IQAC/Academic Coordinator Dogra College of Education in her concluding remarks emphasized that Herbartion, RCEM, and Constructive approach are very useful for the practical professional training of the teacher trainees and teacher educators. She also said that such types of Extension Lectures are very useful for the professional development of the faculty and capability enhancement of the teacher trainees.
