2/11/2022 11:07:17 PM

EARly Times REport

JAMMU, Feb 11: Youth National Conference today expressed concern over release of just one installment of compensation to the 1947 PoK and Chamb Refugees against the commitment of Rs 25 lakh per family, saying that the administration has failed in mitigating their vexed problems.
Addressing a daylong conference of the Youth National Conference at Bhore Camp today, Provincial President Mr Rattan Lal Gupta sought development of the refugee colonies and adequate avenues of progress and development to these segments of the refugees.
Mr Gupta, who was chief guest at the conference said that much has not been done for the rehabilitation of these refugees as the Centre had released just Rs 20,000 crore for the purpose, which is too meager keeping in view the huge requirements.
Mr Gupta also referred to the draft delimitation commission recommendations and said that the people have overwhelmingly rejected these because of illogical and irrational conclusions. He described the draft as bizarre and anti-people.
Mr Gupta urged the youth to play their crucial role in strengthening the National Conference for bringing about socio-economic transformation of all the regions and their sub-regions. He also hoped that the cadre would perform their designated role in bringing about harmony in Jammu and Kashmir, known for its rich and glorious ethos.
Speaking on the occasion, Youth National Conference Provincial President Mr Aijaz Jan also rejected the delimitation commission draft, saying the most bizarre recommendation about the clubbing of Poonch-Rajouri districts with Anantnag Parliamentary Constituency sans reason and logic. He said that the additions and deletions in the assembly segments too is not acceptable to the people.
Mr Aijaz Jan, who presided over the conference, exhorted the youth to gear up for meeting the challenges faced to Jammu and Kashmir. He said youth have huge role to play in steering out the state from the present morass. He said the National Conference alone can bring political stability in this part of the country.
“The youth have to shoulder the responsibilities in bridging the gap between the people and further strengthening the bonds of unity, amity and tranquility”, Mr Jan said adding that the people were looking towards the National Conference with hope and therefore it is incumbent upon the youth to meet their aspirations and expectations.
Zonal President Youth National Conference Mr Sardar Sandeep Singh also spoke during the conference and listed the problems confronted to the youth, especially on the employment front. He decried the recent lathiharge on the border youth particularly the women, saying it is regressive to subject the hapless unemployed to harassment instead of addressing their issues.
