Ramban police recovers 4kg poppy straw in Banihal

RAMBAN, Feb 20: In furtherance to tightening the noose on Narcotics smugglers under “operation Sanjeevani”, Ramban police foiled a narcotic smuggling bid at Navyuga Tunnel, Banihal.
Police stopped a truck near Naviga Tunnel on National Highway in Banihal of Ramban District during a routine checking from which 4 kg of poppy straw was recovered. Special checkpoints are set up at various places on the national highway under “Operation Sanjeevani” to check the vehicles.
Police achieved a major success during routine checking on Sunday when a truck bearing registration number PB07BG-4241 driven by a person namely Satish Kumar S/o Sadha Ram R/o Tedewal Patti, Tehsil Anandpur Sahib district Ropar, Punjab along with his co-driver namely Rahul Sharma S/o Raman Kumar R/o Bass Bhagaur, Tehsil Nangal, District Ropar punjab which was on it’s way to Punjab from kashmir during checking, 4 kilogram poppy straw like substance was recovered from the tool box of the said Truck.
In this connection, FIR No 28/2022 U/S 8 /15 NDPS act stands registered at police station Banihal and investigation set into motion.
The overall recovery and arrest was made by the police team headed by PSI Harish Kumar under the supervision of SHO Banihal Inspector Naeem-ul-Haq and SDPO Banihal Nisar Ahmed Khawaja and the entire operation was carried out under the supervision Mohita Sharma Ips,Sp Ramban .
