Early Times Report

JAMMU, Feb 20: The Jammu and Kashmir unit of Shivsena staged a strong protest against the rising graph of cyber crimes and criminal cases in UT J&K. A large number of Shiv Sainiks had gathered under the leadership of party state president, Manish Sahni demanding curb on cyber crimes, fix accountability and make the Cyber Cell of Police hi-tech besides
running vigorous awareness campaigns with special watch on outsiders living in Jammu and Kashmir.
In his address on the occasion, Sahni said that cyber crimes are taking heavy toll on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of Digital India as this menace has spread its web across the nation including the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory. He said that in the Jammu division , there is an increase of about 35 percent in the registered cases of cyber crime with incidents of cyber crime coming to fore in Kashmir Valley on a daily basis. He expressed anguish over the fact that Cyber criminals are not sparing even the devotees visiting Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine. He said that the incident of issuing fake tickets of the helicopter to Mata Vaishno Devi Yatris and the trauma through which the innocent cheated Yatris should serve as an eye opener for the stakeholders especially the police. He said that countless people are becoming victims of the crime as fraudsters fraudulently obtain information about the bank accounts of the gullible people and siphon off the money from their accounts.
While acknowledging that Cyber Cell has already worked out and solved many cyber crime cases especially those of online frauds, Manish Sahni asserted that in order to have a complete and firm grip to check and control such crimes making the cyber system fully equipped with latest hi-tech instruments and gadgets is inevitable.
At the same time, deep concern was expressed over the increasing cases of theft, hooliganism, prostitution in Jammu. In the recent past, the increasing number of suspected outsiderand their committing crimes and absconding is becoming a matter of great concern.
Sahni appealed the Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, for taking a strong stand regarding the above crimes, complete information and investigation of all the outsiders should be done.
