Early Times Report

Sudhmahadev, Mar 7: The Sudhmahadev Vegetable Producer Company (SVPCL) Sudhmahadev, Udhampur organized the “Women’s Day 2022” celebration program at Garian Kalan Village, Chenani Block of District Udhampur.
Sri Sanjeev Kumar, Director, SVPCL provided an insight on various activities being carried out by the Sudhmahadev Vegetable producer Company in line with the vision of Prime Minister for doubling-up the farmer’s income by 2022. He also ensured the ever-lasting cooperation from NABARD & Agri Deptt in the socio-economic upliftment of women farmers. He also highlighted that International Women's Day celebrated on March 8, is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The women's day has been celebrated for well over a century, with the first one in 1911.
The day marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Significant activity is witnessed worldwide as groups come together to celebrate women's achievements or rally for women's equality. This is the most important days of the year to celebrate women's achievements, raise awareness about women's equality, lobby for accelerated gender parity and fund management for female-focused activities. This year theme for International Women's Day 2022 is #BreakTheBias. Whether deliberate or unconscious, bias makes it difficult for women to move ahead. Knowing that bias exists isn't enough. Action is needed to level the playing field. SVPCL celebrated the “Women’s Day” to ensure the decision making role of women producer members in FPO and how can FPO support our women producer members to uplift their farm and family income through various small scale activities. Women producers can grow organic vegetables in kitchen garden through natural farming practices. He ensure that SVPCL will provide all required technical knowledge, vegetable seed kit and training about preparation of herbal formulation to manage disease and pest of kitchen garden. Rita Devi, active member women producers urged the women farmers to adopt family farming at small scale level to generate their income. All farming related materials available with our own producer company with genuine rate compared to market; we all can take advantage of our own company. SVPCL will also help in marketing of our produce and homemade traditional craft materials in domestic market.
Vijay Kumar, Ex Sarpanch Garian Kalan Panchyat stressed on the need for carrying out skill-based capacity building programmes for women farmers and urged on forming women groups that can help to avail the credit facilities which, in turn, will help to highlight the involvement of women in farming sector. He assured about his full support and coordination for different Agri-horticulture-based activities by women farmers in the area. During the session, the women farmers also shared their views and experiences and discussed about the constraints being faced by them in the farming field. Around 60 women farmers and Naresh Kumar (CEO) of SVPCL along with panchayat members of village participated in the event.
