Early Times Report

JAMMU, Mar 20: 4rd Edition of “Kailakh Sandesh Panchang Calendar” was released in a well-attended programme organized by Kailakh Jyotish evam Vedic Sansthan Trust at Parkhu, Domana today. The calendar has been brought out by Mahant Rohit Shastri, President, Shri Kailakh Jyotish evam Vedic Sansthan Trust Raipur Thather, Jammu, J&K. A number of dignitaries were also honoured on this occasion for their remarkable contribution to society and to promotion of Sanskrit and Vedic culture. The function was presided over by former minister and senior BJP leader Sham Lal Sharma while Vice Chancellor, SMVDU, Katra Prof. R. K. Sinha, was Chief Patron.
Sham said that Panchang is an astrological diary which gives useful astrological information required by an astrologer. It is consulted for finding and selecting an appropriate and auspicious time for important occasions, ceremonies or actions like marriage, education, travel, starting new business or project, examination, interview etc. He said that Mahant Rohit was an icon for the youth and through his work he is uniting the society and promoting our culture. Chief Patron, Professor R K Sinha said that in the ancient times, Jyotish emerged with the purpose of calculating time.
At that time people used to calculate time to predict arrival or rain. The root word of the Hindi word ‘Varsha’ (rain) is ‘Varsh’ (year). At that time the calculation of time was based mainly on the sun and the moon. In his presidential address, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Upadhyay, said that Panchang is a ready source of providing information about all local fairs, festivals and auspicious occasions, accurate dates and timing about the festivals and events like eclipses etc.
Guest of Honour, Shakti Pathak said that Panchang is used to match the current positions of planets with the positions of planets in a person's astrological chart so as to find, and if required, to look ahead to find astrologically good days and times for that person.
