Trumpet beating won’t help
3/21/2022 11:46:51 PM

There are many far-flung villages in Jammu region which don’t have proper road connectivity and even bridges. Recently residents of Labloth, Dangam and Khoda in Khari tehsil in Ramban district expressed dismay over the failure of the former regimes and the present dispensation to construct a bridge over a stream to facilitate the movement of the people.
It’s unfortunate that even after 75-years of independence many areas in Jammu lack proper road connectivity.
The former rulers didn’t pay much attention towards connecting far flung areas in the Jammu region as they concentrated on Kashmir. For them Jammu region was never a priority.
After the abrogation of Article 370, people of Jammu were hopeful that the discrimination with the region would end but it didn’t happen. The present government is also following the footsteps of its predecessor and is focusing on Kashmir only.
People of far-flung areas in Jammu region are still deprived of the basic facilities of life and continue to struggle to get heard.
Despite them making fervent appeals to the administration no one seems to be in a mood to listen to them. The helmsmen remaining inaccessible have made their tasks more difficult. They don’t know whom to approach with their grievances.
After the scrapping of Article 370 the government has been making tall claims about transforming J&K into a much better place to live in but these assertions are confined to papers only. On ground nothing much has changed especially in the far-flung areas.
Residents of many areas are still without power, water and other basic amenities like connectivity. In absence of proper roads people have to carry sick patients on their backs as no ambulances can reach villages where there is no road connectivity.
The government needs to translate its words into action rather than beating around the bush. Publicizing the so-called good work is not helping anyone’s cause.
The development needs to reflect on the ground rather than on papers. The paper work in the Union Territory is moving faster than what’s happening on the ground.
Roads, bridges, water and electricity are the basic facilities which a human being needs to survive. The government cannot ignore the genuine demands of the people. It has to resolve the issues which the people are facing. Just beating the trumpet is not enough. Practical work needs to be done.
