22 litres of illicit liquor seized; Two notorious smugglers arrested: Reasi Police

REASI, Mar 22: Continuing the drive against drug Abuse and illicit liquor launched by District Reasi Police, Today Police party of Police Post Dera Baba laid a surprise naka at Bhaber Brahmna, on seeing Police party on checking one person tried to flee in suspicious circumstances, was chased and apprehended.
On search of bag carried by him 20 litres of illicit liquor (hooch) recovered from his possession.
He has been identified as notorious illicit liquor Smuggler Charan Singh S/O Baldev Singh R/O Bhaber Brahmna, Reasi.
A Case FIR No. 77/2022 U/S 48-(A)/50 Excise Act. Stands registered at Police Station Reasi investigation initiated to unearth forward and backward linkages. Pertinently accused Charan Singh is notorious illicit liquor Smuggler of the area, already arrested in case FIR No.102/2021 US 48(E) Excise Act, 307/353/336/34 IPC of Police Station Reasi and is facing trial in the case.
In another incident team of Police Station Arnas also apprehended one person namely karnail Singh S/o Dewan Singh R/O Jig Arnas during the routine naka checking at Jij arnas area of alongwith 02 litres of Illicit liquor from his possession. In this regard a case FIR No. 37/2022 U/S 48(a) Excise Act stand registered of Police Station Arnas and investigation initiated.
Amit Gupta JKPS Senior Superintendent of Police Reasi while Reasi will leave no stone unturned to curb the menace of drug abuse and illicit liquor smuggling in the area.
SSP further appealed that people should come forward to strengthen the hands of Police to eradicate this menace from society.
