Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 14: Even as the Raj Bhawan has been trying to project the “achievements” of the Jammu and Kashmir on its official Twitter handle, such posts are often responded with public woes putting the administration to apparent embarrassment online.
Recently the Raj Bhawan tweeted about the interaction of the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha with the women cycling team. “Met members of women cycling club, ‘Women Do Ride’. Appreciated the efforts of first women cyclist group of J&K in inspiring positivity in society, gender equality, women empowerment, skill-sharing and invaluable contribution to social development of the country,” the Raj Bhawan tweeted. Even such a tweet couldn’t go without serious public reaction.
The replies to the tweet highlighted the public woes in Jammu and Kashmir. From unemployment to delay in holding of exams, the people have been posting their woes of sorts.
One netizen has been repeatedly complaining that the SRO cases of the families of the police personnel were not being resolved making them suffer unheard.
Another said the wages being paid by government to some were even less than Rs 100 per day. “Respected LG Sir, Please Solve the long pending issue of NYCs Employees who are being paid only 2500 per month. That means 83 rupees per day which is not a sufficient amount,” replied a netizen.
Another netizen “reminded” the Raj Bhawan of its promises on reservation for the women. “Respected sir please officially approve 15% women reservation in jkpsi in this ongoing recruitment which LG sir had mentioned in his tweet on girls child day on 24th of Jan 2022 #ReservationForWomenInJKPSI”.
One more netized asked the Raj Bhawan to open job vacancies for the dental surgeons. “Dental surgeons ki job nikalo.”
Some of the tweets had voiced their grievances with abuses, something which the Early Times, a responsible media refrained from publishing.
Talking to the Early Times on the condition of anonymity, a senior official said the “governance deficit is so bad in Jammu and Kashmir that now the people can’t bear with the official utterances even about the sports events and respond with their woes. This because the ground reality is different from the rosy picture.”
The official said the public reaction to the Raj Bhawan’s official handle was something for New Delhi to “seriously look into.”
