The second edition of Khelo India University Games, hosted by Jain University in partnership with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), will be held from April 24 to May 3.
The official announcement was made on February 21. The logo, game anthem and the mascot launch was held on April 1.
The event is aimed at tapping sporting talent who can represent India at various international events including the Olympics.
The inaugural edition held at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) campus in Bhubaneswar saw 3,182 athletes from 158 universities participate.
This year, the event is expected to draw in more than 4,000 athletes.
In the inaugural edition in 2020, Punjab University won the overall championship title and Savitribai Phule Pune University were the runners-up.
Mangalore University brought glory to Karnataka by finishing 5th in the overall medal tally with 25 medals. Jain University finished with 16 medals.
This year indigenous sports like Yogasana and Mallakhamb have been included.
A majority of the events are scheduled to be held at Jain University campus in Bengaluru and across other venues including Sree Kanteerava Stadium.
A newly-laid synthetic turf for athletics at the Kanteerava will be used for the first time while a renovated Field Marshal Cariappa stadium will host hockey matches.
The games will be conducted in the U-25 age category and nomination of players will be done through zonals conducted by Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
