Srinagar, May 6: Security forces arrested a militant and his associate in Kashmir’s Baramulla district, police said on Friday.
The two were arrested by joint teams of the police, Army, CRPF and SSB in Cheradari when they were checking vehicles. They were identified as Ashiq Hossain Lone and Uzair Amin Ganie, both of Baramulla. “On seeing the security forces, the two tried to escape. However, both were caught," a police officer said, A pistol, eight live rounds of 9 mm pistol and two grenades were recovered from Lone while two grenades were recovered from Ganie.
“These terrorists obtained these illegal arms and ammunition from links with Lashkar e Toiba (LeT) through some foreign terrorists with a view to carry out terrorist activities in Baramulla and adjacent areas,” an officer said. |
