Thousands throng historical Moungri mela at Sar Dabbar

UDHAMPUR, May 15: Thousands of devotees thronged the three day historical Annual Shiv Parvati Mela which commenced at Sar Dabbar Block Moungri of District Udhampur the other day.
The people from across Udhampur and adjoining districts paid obeisance at Shiv Parvati Cave Shrines and prayed for the peace and prosperity of the district and the nation.
Tehsildar Moungri, Narinder Kumar, was the chief guest at the inaugural function.
The People from Bhamag, Panchari, Udhampur, Chenani, Ramnagar of Udhampur District and from Jammu converge every year to participate in the Mela besides paying obeisance to Lord Shiv in a naturally formed Shiva-Parvati Cave Shrine.
A number of temporary sweet / toy shops and other eatery corners put up by the locals and outside vendors were the main attraction for the general public visiting the mela site.
The District Administration has made adequate arrangements of security, transport, Medicare, drinking water and power supply during Mela.
Different government departments have set up stalls showcasing schemes of Health, Horticulture, Agriculture, Fisheries, Handloom & Handicraft, Animal Husbandry, Sericulture, JK Bank sector and to generate awareness and educate the common masses about the same.
The event also witnessed sports activities organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports Udhampur.
The Artists of DIPR Udhampur presented a scintillating cultural show on the second day which was highly appreciated by one and all.
Local cultural troupes also presented folk dances depicting the rich Dogra culture.
