IGNOU learners receive academic programme Study Material during induction meeting at Learner Support Centers

Srinagar, May 15: Indira Gandhi National Open University, IGNOU Regional Center Srinagar has taken an initiative to organize induction meetings at the learner support centers across the valley of Jammu and Kashmir for the learners enrolled in January 2022 sessions in various academic programmes offered by Indira Gandhi National Open University through Regional Center Srinagar. Today as on 15th May 2022, the Regional Center Srinagar has organized an induction meeting at the auditorium hall of Govt. Degree College Pulwama for the allotted 343 Students to Learner Support Center 1248 situated at Govt. Degree College Pulwama. This induction programme was hosted by College Administration with the support of Coordinator Learner Support Center (LSC) 1248, part time staff of IGNOU and Academic Counsellors of the said Learner Support Center. The meeting was attended by Principal Govt. Degree College Pulwama, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Andrabi, Regional Director IGNOU Regional Center Srinagar, Dr. Kamlesh Meena, Coordinator IGNOU Prof. Jan Mohammad Bhat and staff members of Regional Center Srinagar. A huge number of learners participated in the induction meeting. The Principal, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Andrabi welcomed the Regional Director, Dr. Kamlesh Meena for organizing such programmes for the awareness of learners of IGNOU which abridge the gaps between learners, Learner Support Centers and Regional Center Srinagar. Prof. Farooq Ahmad Andrabi delivered his speech with remarks that this is a very important initiative for the learners to know about their courses pursuing from Indira Gandhi National Open University.
On this occasion the Coordinator of Learner Support Center 1248 addressed the learners with the views and remarks that the induction meeting aims to provide relevant information to the learners about their academic activities. The induction session started by Dr. Kamlesh Meena through Power point Presentation and dissemination of information about the role of Indira Gandhi National Open University for importing Higher education to the common masses at the door steps with a view of democratization of Higher education in all segments of societies. Dr. Kamlesh Meena spoke about the inception of regional Center Srinagar and its time to time contribution to importing Higher education opportunities to the masses of Kashmir Valley without any bearer and discrimination. Dr. Meena said the RC Srinagar is carrying the mandate of IGNOU to cater all societies through the opportunities Open Distance Learning platform (ODL) through the world’s largest open University Indira Gandhi National Open University. During the induction meeting the learners were told about the submission of Assignments, Re-registration, and Examination by Regional Director Dr. Kamlesh Meena through his speech and Power Point Presentation. Dr. Meena briefed the learners who have Practicals, Synopsis, Internship and Project activities in their respective programmes by informing the learners about the submissions, preparation and how to go for such components in the course of their Degree tenure.
Regional Director Dr. Kamlesh Meena explained all academic information to the learners during the induction session. The session was facilitated with the question asking session from the participating learners to get feedback and to clear queries and doubts. A majority of learners have posed their questions to the Regional Director Dr. Kamlesh Meena about Study Material, Counselling Classes, Scholarship Forms, Commencement of Examination, Submission dates of Assignments, Projects, Examination Forms and so on. A few learners asked about newly launched programmes of Indira Gandhi National Open University and asked whether IGNOU Regional Center Srinagar will offer those courses in future which are offered by Indira Gandhi National Open University but are yet to be activated from Regional Center Srinagar. Dr. Meena said that any programme is activated on the basis of academic requirements, department, facility, infrastructure at the Learner Support Center where a new programme is to be activated.
