MHA to devise fresh strategy for protecting minorities in Kashmir
5/17/2022 11:11:27 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, May 17: To foil the evil designs of terrorists, the Ministry of Home Affairs is devising a comprehensive policy to protect minorities living in the Kashmir Valley.
The decision to redevise the strategy to protect minorities was taken at a high level held in New Delhi under the chairmanship of the Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha along with senior police and civil officers attended the meeting.
According to a news agency, seeing the gravity of the situation, the Union Home Minister discussed this issue separately after the review meeting on the preparedness of the upcoming Amarnath yatra.
Apart from the J&K L-G, Senior Police officials including Special Director General, CID, Rashmi Ranjan Swain, and top administrative officials presented the details of the measures taken by the Union Territory administration in this regard.
After the abrogation of article 370 and bifurcation of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories (UTs), terrorists have been indulged in selective and targeted killings of minorities after repeated intervals.
The recent targeted killings in the Kashmir Valley have proved that the plan to protect the minorities needs to be revised, the officials said, adding that there was a plan to shift Kashmiri Pandits in the secured tehsil or district headquarters.
LG Manoj Sinha has constituted a special cell at the Secretariat to look into grievances of the Kashmiri Pandit employees.
The cell will coordinate with district administration and other departments to resolve all issues and an Additional Secretary rank officer has been made a nodal officer to look into the issues of the minorities in J&K.
In November-December 2021, the security forces along with the other Central police agencies imitated the coordinated operations against the terrorists when the minorities and labourers were killed mostly in selective attacks.
