Div Com felicitates players as JKCA Orange lifts title trophy

JAMMU, May 31: For making it to Team India and having fabulous bowling show in IPL 2022, J&K's sensational Speedster Umran Malik, was today honoured by the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) during a valedictory function of U-19 Men's One-Day Tournament at GGM Science College Hostel Ground, here today.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar was the chief guest of the valedictory function, while cricketing icon Umran Malik was the special guest.
Former First Class cricketer, Kavaljeet Singh and Cricket Coach Randhir Singh Manhas were the guests of honour who were honoured by JKCA through the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Divisional Commissioner Jammu praised the organisers for conducting the event in a most begetting manner and involving youth in sports activities to be away from drugs and other social evils.
Terming sportspersons as the messengers of peace and harmony, Ramesh Kumar assured the association of every kind of help from administration for promotion of the game. The Div Com stressed that such sports activities should be organised at the district level as well to provide platforms to local players.
Umran was presented a T-Shirt, Track Suit, Cap, Badge and a Memento by Brig Anil Gupta, Member-Administration JKCA and Advocate Sunil Sethi, Member Legal Affairs JKCA.
On the occasion, Umran asked the young cricketers to set goals and be focused and determined to fulfill them.
He also congratulated the winners and runners-up teams for their fabulous show.
Brig Anil Gupta, Member-Administration JKCA, while speaking on the occasion, said that Umran's elevation at the National scene will be a motivator for the budding cricketers of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
Advocate Sunil Sethi said that Umran's elevation is tip of an ice berg, adding that J&K will produce a galaxy of Umrans in near future.
Meanwhile, in the summit clash, JKCA Orange thrashed JKCA Blue by a huge margin of 176 runs.
Earlier, put into bat, JKCA Orange set a good target of 233 runs in 45 overs. Achintya Khajuria top scored with 68 runs, while Rhytham Sharma, Akshit Gandral and Bachan Singh contributed 44, 26 and 23 runs respectively. Oman Fayaz was the pick of the bowlers from JKCA Blues, who took 5 important wickets, while Arooj Parvaiz, Basit Nazir, Ranjot Singh and Ahmed Fayaz claimed one wicket each.
In reply, JKCA Blue bundled out for a paltry total of 56 runs to lose the match by a big margin. Oman Fayaz and Musaib were the only two batters who crossed double figure mark, making 18 and 12 runs respectively. For JKCA Orange, Naveed and Udhay Pratap took 3 wickets each, while Piyush and Shikawat claimed 2 wickets each. Bachan Singh was declared as the best batsman of the tournament, while Arooj Parvez was adjudged as the best bowler. Oman Fayaz got the best all-rounder award, while Rhytham Sharma was adjudged as the best wicket keeper. Sahil Imran was declared as the promising/emerging player of the tournament. The proceedings of the valedictory function were conducted by renowned anchors Rajesh Dhar and Surabhi Dhadeechi.
