Industrial Estate organizes Apprenticeship Mela; sees overall participation of candidates

Jammu, May 31: Apprenticeship Mela cum Job Fair was organised at Bari Brahmana Industrial Estate on 31st of May 2022 by Industry Cluster - Bari Brahmana (Developed under “STRIVE Project” of Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship - Govt of India) in collaboration with Department of Skill Development J&K & Regional Directorate of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship – Jammu. Principal Secretary Skill Development Department - J&K Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon (IAS) was the chief guest on the occasion.
Director Skill Development J&K, Sudarshan Kumar (JKAS), Regional Director – RDSDE, J&K, Jammu Sh. Shantimanalan (ISDS) and Sh. Lalit Mahajan – Chairperson Bari Brahmana Industry Cluster (President Bari Brahmana Industy Association) also graced the occasion along with the other Officers of Skill Development Department and Members of Industry Cluster Bari Brahmana.
Around 150 Pass outs from adjoining Govt ITIs participated in the apprenticeship mela cum Job Fair in which about 15 Companies took part. Various Initiatives were taken by the Industry Cluster to register the Candidates and the Industrial Establishments on the NCVT MIS Apprenticeship Portal. The detailed features and benefits of the Apprenticeship training scheme were also briefed to all the participants through a power point presentation.
Principal Secretary – Skill Development Deptt interacted with the representatives of various companies and impressed upon them to recruit maximum number of ITI pass outs and offer them a handsome package to encourage candidates to join these establishments with zeal. He also laid stress on identifying the gaps between the skills required by the industry viz-a-viz skills acquired by the ITI pass outs during their training and ultimately bridging the same.
He also assured the Industrialists that the industry needs of the skilled manpower will be fulfilled by revision of existing curriculum of various trades being taught in ITIs, keeping in view the skill sets required in the Industry after obtaining the proper feedback from them.
Director-Skill Development, J&K during his address appreciated the efforts of the Industry Cluster-Bari Brahmana for organising such awareness programmes to promote the apprenticeship training scheme and the placement of the ITI Pass outs. He impressed upon the representatives of the Industry to come forward with the suggestions for curriculum revision of the trades, being taught in the ITIs, as per the industry need at present and asked them to come forward for encouraging deployment of trainees of ITIs for On-the-Job training in their establishments.
Regional Director – RDSDE, J&K, Jammu during his address expressed that such Apprenticeship mela cum Job fair will also be organised by RDSDE – J&K, Jammu in near future to create employment opportunities to the youth of J&K
Chairperson Industry Cluster- Bari Brahmana expressed his thanks to the Chief Guest for developing Industry Cluster at Bari Brahmana and assured his full support for implementing the STRIVE Project in real spirit on ground.
