Commissioner Secretary exhorts stakeholders for massive plantation to preserve environment for posterity

UDHAMPUR, June 6: Commissioner Secretary, Department of Floriculture, Parks and Gardens, Sheikh Fayaz Ahmed, today appealed stakeholders to ensure massive plantation in Jammu and Kashmir thus contributing towards protection and preservation of our environment for the posterity.
Commissioner Secretary was speaking at an event organised by the Floriculture Department in connection with celebration of World Environment day at Jakhani Park, Udhampur.
Commissioner Secretary, while stressing on the importance of planting trees, said that youth must take it as their prime duty to take care of their environment around by planting more and more saplings besides motivating others for the same.
While continuing the celebration of World Environment Day 2022, Commissioner Secretary also launched plantation drive in Jakhani park, Udhampur.
The plantation drive was conducted in presence of Director, Department of Floriculture Parks and Gardens, Jammu S. Jatinder Singh, Executive Engineer, Darshan Kumar Kaith, Joint Director, Sunil Singh, Floriculture Officer (H.Q) Ishtiaq Ahmed Malik, Assistant Floriculture Officers, staff and locals.
Similar plantation drives were conducted in different parks of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Poonch and Reasi on the eve of world environment day and around 200 plants of different species such as Aurocaria, Plumeria, Ficus, Bottle brush, Oleander, Neem, Putranjiva, Jasminum and other shady trees were planted.
Commissioner Secretary also reviewed various development works being executed in Jakhani Parks, Udhampur and Tulip Garden, Sanasar. He directed the officials of the department to complete engineering and gardening works at Tulip Garden, Sanasar so that Tulip show be conducted successfully in the coming year to attract tourists in Jammu division.
