This was stated by Yashu Vardhan Singh, Additional Spokesperson National Conference while observing the problems being faced by people working under MGNREGA scheme in Jammu and Kashmir. Yashu Vardhan Singh said that due to lack of vision and wrong policies of BJP Government at the Centre, people of J&K are facing a crisis like situation with each segment of society feeling abject neglect. Singh asserted that for the last more than 18 months the suppliers of MGNREGA works in Kalakote and Sunderbani areas of district Nowshera have waiting for clearance of their pending dues. Besides, the government has also miserably failed in clearing pending wages of workers under the MGNREGA rural employment guarantee Scheme. He said that the people are totally disillusioned as the administrative inertia has impacted the deliverance at the grass roots level. "The MGNREGA workers in rural areas have lost their faith in the scheme due to non-payment of timely wages. No new development works has been undertaken since 2018, clearly reflecting the present status of this flagship programme in J&K," he said. The National Conference leader has asked the government to clear the pending wages and dues under MGNREGA failing which the party will come on roads. He asked the Lieutenant Governor to take serious note of these issues and clear the pending due at the earliest. He also appealed to the Lt Governor to give necessary directions to the authorities concerned for providing basic amenities to the rural populace who are facing official apathy in absence of popular government in Jammu and Kashmir. |
