National Statistical Office organises three day Regional Training Camp for NSS 79th round

JAMMU, June 15: National Statistical Office (Field Operations Division), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India, Regional office, Jammu organized a three day Regional Training Camp for NSS 79th Round inaugurated by S. L. Menaria, Director General, Ministry of Statistics & Programme implementation (MoSPI),Government of India.
In his inaugural address, he highlighted the role of National Statistical Office in developing a sound statistical database for the use by planners and policy makers, researchers and various other agencies at the national and international level. Shri Menaria requested people to give full cooperation to the field Officers/ Officials of the NSO, (FOD), Government of India and Directorate of Economics & statistics, J&K Government and provide correct & reliable information.
In the welcome address, Kishore Kumar, Deputy Director General NSO (FOD), Regional Office Jammu gave a brief detail about NSO survey carried out by the field officials of the NSO field staff. Shri Kumar highlighted the importance of these surveys for nation building. Shri Ashiq Hussain, Joint Director, DES, J&K Government highlighted the importance of NSS 79th Round.
The training was attended by the officers and the field staff of NSO (FOD) Regional office Jammu, Sub-Regional Office, Udhampur, and some officers of the Directorate of Economics& Statistics, J &K Government.
The NSS 79th round covered the subject "Comprehensive Annual Modular Survey (CAMS), along with a Survey on AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa/Amchi and Homeopathy).
The subjects covered in this round for survey purposes are the prime source of statistical indicators and the main users of this statistical data will be Ministry of AYUSH, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, NITI Aayog, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, UNICEF, WHO.
The three days training Camp will providean insight of various terms, concepts, procedures and definitions used in various schedule of NSS 79th Round. Officers and field staff of NSO (FOD), Government of India, Jammu as well as the Directorate of Economics & Statistics, Jammu and Kashmir Government involved in the process of data collection will get benefitted from this training programme.
The training is being imparted by Rajesh Kumar, Deputy Director & Sunil K. Khar, Senior Statistical Officers of NSO (FOD), Government of India, Regional Office, Jammu.
