JAMMU, June 15: Influenced by the policies and programmes of Congress Party, scores of BJP workers today joined the Congress during a programme held at Jammu North Assembly segment here today.
In the programme, Brij Nandan Singh, President Basant Nagar Development Welfare Committee of Ward No 60 along with office bearers today resigned from BJP and joined Congress Party in presence of Hari Singh Chib, President DCC Jammu Rural; Uday Bhanu Chib, President Youth Congress Jammu and Kashmir and Rajni Bala Corporator Ward No 60.
Speaking on the occasion, Hari Singh Chib welcomed the newly joined members and appreciated their decision to leave BJP and joining country's oldest political party. He asserted that they joined congress and desired to work under the leadership of Party President Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi senior Congress leader, Rajani Patil, General Secretary AICC and In-charge Jammu and Kashmir and G.A Mir, President Jammu and Kashmir PCC.
Chib stated that the BJP leadership has totally failed to deliver the promises made with the people of Jammu and Kashmir after getting huge mandate in the 2014 Assembly elections and 2019 Parliamentary elections in the Jammu and Kashmir.
Chib said in absence of popular government, the general public of Jammu and Kashmir has become so much restless that even a day is not passed when the Jammu region doesn't witness a protest or demonstration against the anti-people policies of the government. "unemployment is at a historic rise, inflation has almost touched the sky and public is now irate with the present government as their problems have increase manifold due to non- availability of basic amenities with regard to roads, power and water.
Rajni Bala, in his address, welcomed the newly joined members and assured all possible support in addressing civic issues of the people of the area. The Councillor asserted that she will fulfill all the demands of the people of the Ward and will work round the clock for the betterment of the society as well. She assured that all development needs for Mohallah Basant Nagar shall be fulfilled by taking up their issues with the authorities concerned like drinking water problem, improving existing distribution system and lanes and drains at the earliest.
Uday Chib, in his address, appreciated the decision of People of the area for leaving BJP and joining the Congress Party. He extended all possible support in addressing the civic issues of people of the area on priority basis. He asserted that secularism is the strength of Indian Nation and only Congress can lead the Jammu and Kashmir and the entire Nation to the path of peace, progress and prosperity by strengthening secular fabric.
