GDC Vijaypur organised essay writing competition on cyber crime against women

JAMMU, June 18: The Cyber Jagrookta Committee of Govt. Degree College, Vijaypur organized an Essay Writing Competition on "Cyber Crime Against Women". The Convener of the Cyber Jagrookta Committee, Poonam Kundan, welcomed all the participants and instructed them for writing the essay on the stated theme. She expressed that with the advent of computers and high intensive use of technology numerous cyber criminals like hackers, smart thieves had also found ways and measures to interfere with the internet accounts and have been successful in gaining unauthorized access to the user's computer system and had stolen useful data which had disrupted the plain Joe lives of individuals especially women who are soft hearted and soft natured. She stated cyber crime as "Any unlawful act where computer or communication device or computer network is used to commit or facilitate the commission of crime". The students of the College participated energetically and showed their interest towards the same wherein they portrayed varied cyber crimes which can be committed by hackers and women can be targeted via softness. Students also explicated numbers of methodologies with the assistance of which they can be protected when under the clutches of hackers.
Principal of the College Prof. (Dr.) Sangeeta Sudan also addressed some of the cyber crimes with which one should be aware of in this ultra modern era such as Harassment through e-mails, Cyber stalking, Cyber defamation, Cyber bullying etc. She said that the theme is so relevant in present scenario and congratulated all the students who participated with their body, mind and soul for making the competition valor and exalted.
In the competition, First position was scored and shared by Manvir Kour of B.Com. Sem-II, Akash of B.A Sem-II and Roopa Devi of B.A Sem-II, accordingly second position was shared by Kajal Choudhary of B.Com. Sem-II, Manesha Sangotra of B.A Sem-II and Simran Kour B.Com. Sem-II , third position was shared by Pooja Devi of B.A. Sem-II, Simranjeet Kour of B.Com Sem-II and Jyoti Devi of B.A Sem-IV. The competition was adjucated by Dr. Shittal Sharma and Dr. Naseem Chowdhary. All the meritorious students were awarded Certificates of appreciation.
