Ayush J&K organizes Yoga countdown programme

Jammu, June 19: In order to celebrate 8th International Day of Yoga with great zest and zeal and to motivate general public for mass participation in Yoga events to be organized on June 21, Ministry of Ayush, Govt. of India took an initiative of 100-day countdown of 8th International Day of Yoga. Morarji Desai National Institute is the nodal agency in this initiative to organize Yoga sessions at iconic places across India. In this series, Yogashram of Bharatiya Yoga Sansthan was selected as iconic site of Jammu for conducting a Yoga session for general public. Under the guidance of Director Ayush J&K, Dr. Mohan Singh an impressive countdown YOGOTSAV Yoga session was organized at Yogashram of Bharatiya Yog Sansthan, Gole Gujral Jammu in collaboration with Bhara itya Yog Sansthan and the support of Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga. The session was inaugurated by Shri Ashok Bhan Rtd. D G P J&K who in his inaugural address highlighted that Yoga has emerged as a non-drug treatment for combating various illness during the testing times of Covid. It is therefore, important for the society to embrace Yoga as tool of health promotion and disease prevention, he said. The yoga session was also virtually joined attended by Dr. Ishwar V Basavaraddi, Director Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) Ministry of AYUSH Government of India, who in his address emphasized that Yoga is indeed a boon for humanity and blessing for mankind. It not only has obvious health benefits but also makes a society more mindful and responsible. He urged all Yoga enthusiasts to adopt Yoga in their daily lives and motivate their families and friends to practice Yoga for making this world a better place. People from all walks of life, affiliates of Bhartiya Yoga Sansthan, members of civil society, medical and paramedical staff of Ayush J&K participated in the Yoga session enthusiastically. More than 200 people practiced Yoga in the mass demonstration. Other eminent dignitaries who participated in the mass yoga demonstration were Shri. Satpal Karlopia Corporator JMC Jammu, Shri Satpal Sharma President Bhartiya Yog Sansthan J&K, Shri Jia Lal Sharma secretary and other Managing Committee members of Bhartiya Yog Sansthan Jammu. Dr. Manjeet Singh Medical Officer from Ayush led the Yoga demonstration along with Dr Neha Jolly Medical Officer Ayush, Shri Neelam Kumar YT and Smt.Neha Chib from Directorate of Ayush, J&K. Yoga enthusiasts also practiced Common Yoga Protocol for the final day of June 21, 2022.
