Infighting intensifies in Panthers Party: Two factions stake claim to being real followers of Bhim Singh
6/21/2022 9:11:33 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, June 21: As expected infighting in the Panthers Party started after the demise of the founder of the party Prof. Bhim Singh who died on May 31.
Two days after a group within the party nominated a prominent lawyer Vilakshan as the new president of the party, another faction on Tuesday announced that P. K. Ganju will function as working president till such time fresh elections are held for the new president.
On June 19, Panthers Party announced Vilakshan Singh, an advocate as the new president of the party after the demise of Prof. Bhim Singh.
The announcement was made at party headquarters in Jammu after a meeting of the party leaders and members of the Working Committee chaired by Jay Mala, wife of Prof. Bhim Singh and the founder member of the party.
The name of Vilakshan Singh was proposed by Jay Mala and seconded by Paramjeet Singh Marshal, provincial president and unanimously carried by the party leadership. All the existing committees were dissolved and the new president was authorized to constitute the team afresh in consultation with the party leadership particularly the elected BDC Chairpersons, DDCs, and Sarpanches and Panches affiliated with the Party.
Today another faction termed the appointment of Vilakshan Singh unconstitutional and illegal.
“Vilakshan Singh, who is a family member, as the nephew of late Prof Bhim Singh declaring himself as the self-styled president of Panthers Party is condemned as unconstitutional null and void, mischievous, misleading and bad in the eyes of laws”, leaders of another faction said.
“It is unfortunate that some people are declaring themselves as self-styled president of Panthers Party. It is strange that after the demise of Prof Bhim Singh many people who did not even have the remotest connection with the day-to-day working of the party have suddenly started claiming to be members.”, the said.
