Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 23: General Category People's Front (GCPF) held its meeting today under the chairmanship of Raj Kumar Banathia, Chairman of Front to discuss the socio-economic policies of government. Front expressed concern over the unprecedented price rise of essential commodities including diesel, petrol and LPG. The uncontrolled inflation is due to wrong economic policies of Modi Government which inflicted a lot of miseries upon people of the country, said Yash Paul Sanson, President of the Front. He added that Modi as Prime Minister has lost the ability to grasp what people wanted, will cost BJP dear. Govt. has been working like a Co-operate House with sole aim of imposing heavy taxes on people, exploiting them in the name of Nationalism and Development. BJP has been losing popularity because of downfall of Indian economy. Sanson appealed to Govt. to chalk out a strategy to check price rise which is a big deception, providing benefits to the rich. He demanded discontinuation of levy of Income Tax on Pension. Pension is paid to pensioners as Superannuation Fund for the livelihood. Pension is not an income for any services or work. It is a deferred wage to the pensioners. MPs / MLAs pension is not taxable, why pensioners' pension is taxable. It is the biggest discrimination. Som Nath Sharma, Gen. Secretary said that Govt. has denied access to basic fundamental rights on basis of caste, class and religion or economic status. He appealed the Govt. to consider enacting a law to ensure universal enforcement of the principles of equality, justice and non-discrimination. It is the duty of the government in a liberalized economy to foster a culture of enforce basic fundamental rights, the need of the hour. He said that there is cripping lacuna in law when it come to people's right of "Equal Rights and Equal Laws for all citizens". He demanded 'Equality Act' to end injustices and discriminatory practices. V.K. Sharma, Vice President criticized government for continuous suppression of General category people on the basis of their caste, class and religion. If it does not stop, it will have serious consequences for BJP Government at the Centre. He asked the Modi Govt. for the removal of restrictions imposed on the application of basis fundamental rights. The people be provided equality & justice by making legal provision of 'One Nation, One law for all".
Deepak Khajuria, Dr. Bansi Lal, Bhushan Pargal, Gopal Dass Verma, Surinder Kumar and Vijay Kumar also expressed their views in the meeting. They unanimously pointed finger towards the economic policies of Modi Govt. They said that failure of Modi government in checking price rise has perpetuated Tax Terrorism and has frustrating people. They appealed that every citizen should fight against socio-economic inequalities to establish socio-economic equality in the society.
