Anti-Drug Day: Mafia introduces couples into narcotic smuggling to dodge cops
6/26/2022 11:10:12 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, June 26: Recently Jammu and Kashmir Police has arrested a female drug supplier from North Kashmir for supplying drugs being smuggled from across the border.
To thwart aggressive campaign launched by cops, the drug mafia in J&K has devised new strategy by inducting couples to supply narcotics in different parts of the region. This new strategy of drug mafia has forced cops to re-devise their approach to snap supply line.
“As we have launched aggressive campaign against this menace so drug mafia is adopting one after another technique but we will frustrate their evil designs with the help of the society”, a senior police officer said while admitting that some women drug peddler have been arrested recently.
Although women have been indulged in this menace since long, first time a couple was arrested some time back from the outskirt of Jammu city.
Public Safety Act (PSA) was slapped against the arrested woman because she had involved her husband in the business to dodge cops.
The woman, originally hails from Rajasthan, was living in Jammu for the past several years. Several cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act have been registered against her at different police stations.
She had been detained under various sections of the Criminal Procedure Code for involvement in unlawful activities, especially peddling of narcotics.
Interestingly most of the women arrested with husbands were outsiders living in the outskirts of Jammu.
Majority of the couple drug paddlers arrested recently are themselves addict and are appeared to be introduced into this business by the drug mafia taking advantage of their helplessness.
These couples are engaged to supply narcotics within J&K.
