6/30/2022 10:28:26 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, June 30: Requesting permission to continue business at their present location, members of Rehri Association, Smart Rehri Zone, opposite Vaishnavi Dham, near SRTC wall, Railway Road, Jammu said that they are ruined by the administrative decision to close their only livelihood until the completion of Shree Amarnath ji Yatra.
They stated that they are in penniless condition by this decision. He said that their whole families are badly suffering as they are only dependent on the day-to-day earnings from these Rehris.
They stated that already they were victims of the Covid marred period in which all the markets were closed and the trains were closed for around 2 years with no customers and hence no earning.
"Already all our savings were consumed in that period and now when we were looking forward to bringing our lives back on track, the administration has ordered us to close down our ventures till the completion of the holy Yatra", they said.
President of Rehri Zone, Umesh Kumar Gabbar, while addressing on the occasion, said that, this year, the poor persons operating in the Rehri zone were very hopefull that they will be able to pay back their loans that have accumulated over previous years due to the Covid period. He said that, now, when the holy Yatra is about to start, the Administration asked them to relocate temporarily to another place till the completion of holy Yatra of Shree Amarnath Baba.
"This action will surely lead them to starvation as their only hopes were on the good sales during this Yatra period", he said.
Members of the association, on the occasion, requested the Administration to reconsider their decision, for the sake of the poor people adding that they have been operating their Rehris for the multiple decades now without causing any nuisance to the public or the Administration. They will fully cooperate with the Administration in every sense, if they are given permission to carry on their businesses as earlier, they pleaded.
They added that they are law-abiding local citizens, who have always helped the local administration and requested the Administration to consider their genuine demand on humanitarian grounds.
