Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi imparts Training on Agri-Entrepreneurship Development

Jammu, June 30: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Directorate of Extension, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) organized farmers training programme on ‘Agri-entrepreneurship development in the rural areas’ here today at Bharakh village in Pouni block of Reasi district of J&K which was enthuastically attended by a number of farmers of the area. The programme was organised under the able guidance of Director Extension of SKUAST-J, Prof.SK Gupta. Dr.Banarsi Lal, Scientist &Head of KVK, Reasi initiated the programme with the warm welcome of the participants. He gave a detail view of agri-entrepreneurship and suggested the farmers that they should stress on commercial agriculture so that their income and employment can be enhanced. He gave the description of principles of agri-entrepreneurship and said that farmers should take the opportunities to become the agri-entrepreneurs. He spoke in detail on diversified farming and guided the farmers on scientific cultivation of cereals, pulses, oilseeds, vegetables and fruits, beekeeping, mushroom cultivation, aromatic and medicinal plants etc. He said the farmers that by scientific commercial agriculture they can increase their crops production and quality and ultimately they can raise their socio-economic status by increasing their farm income. He also highlighted the eco-friendly agricultural technologies for sustainable agriculture and guided farmers on the benefits of natural farming. He guided the farmers for the organic inputs formulations and spoke on Atmanirbhar Bharat. He further added that hilly areas have immense potential in organic fruits and vegetables and added that farmers can fetch more prices by growing the organic fruits and vegetables by following the organic farming practices. Success stories of some of the farmers of the area were also elaborated. In this training programme many quarries were raised by the farmers which KVK scientist answered in a very satisfactorily way. During the programme awardee farmers S.Gurdev Singh and S.Harjeet Singh were also present who also shared their experience on commercial farming with other farmers. A field visit was also arranged during the training programme. The programme was assisted by Sh.Manohar Lal and concluded by Dr. Banarsi Lal with the formal vote of thanks.
