Div Com inspects progress of work on Jammu-Akhnoor Road project
‘Flyover from Canal Head to Ganesh Vihar likely to complete by July end

JAMMU, July 2: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar today inspected the progress of work on Jammu-Akhnoor Road widening Project.
The Div Com took a round of the entire stretch and inspected the work progress on all the packages at several sites including Canal Head, Patel Nagar, Paloura, Muthi and other locations.
He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Jammu Avny Lavasa; General Manager (P), NHIDCL, Col. S P S Samgwan; Chief Engineer Irrigation, concerned SDM, besides senior officers of JPDCL, Jal shakti, site Engineers of NHIDCL and other concerned officers.
The NHIDCL officials apprised the Div Com about the current status of work on the prestigious road project, besides progress achieved so far and the future work plan.
While giving details, the GM NHIDCL informed that Detailed Project Report (DPR) for package 1 from 4th Tawi Bridge to Canal Head rotary has been prepared and submitted for approval and the project is likely to be awarded by July 30, 2022.
The Div Com stressed on early start of work on package 1 and instructed the DC Jammu to expedite the land acquisition process and disbursement of compensation besides relocation of Government buildings coming in its alignment. The Div Com also directed NHIDCL and concerned officers to ensure safe utility shifting. It was informed that 94 percent work on 4.6 KM package 2 from Canal Head to Ganesh Vihar has been completed, while the flyover was at final stage and it would be thrown open for traffic by July end.
The Div Com instructed GM NHIDCL to expedite the pace of work on approach and ramp of elevated road from both the ends. He also emphasized on installation of signages, besides beautification and landscaping of the area under the elevated road portion with proper drainage network.
The Div Com directed GM NHIDCL to expedite the final works of package 2 and ensure its completion by August 15.
It was further given out that 56 percent work on 20.61 KM package 3 from Ganesh vihar to Khati Chowk has been completed and the rest of the work was in progress. The concerned officers further informed that the land acquisition process has been completed and the same has been provided to executing agencies for smooth execution of work. The Div Com directed NHIDCL to be in regular touch with concerned officers of district administration for every logistic support and share the requirement of construction material.
He further asked the Corporation to set weekly, monthly targets and expedite the progress of work to complete the project within the stipulated time frame.
