JAMMU, July 4: President Vijay Sharma of Jammu and Kashmir Excise & State Taxes welfare Society appeals PM Narender Modi to restore Sr.citizens Rly.concession in train fare.It used to be 40% earlier.The same was stopped in March 2020 citing the reason that there is need to cut the subsidy Bills. Even as people grow older and older the expenditure on food items comes down and the Medical bill starts swelling. The increase in medical bills is many more times higher than the amount saved from the reduced intake of the food.Sr.citizens are forced to travel from one place to another in search of good Hospitals with good doctors.The concession in Rly.fare would go a long way in mitigating the financial hardships of the Sr.citizens. Most of the subsidies like gas,electricity have been withdrawn. But the withdrawal of Rail fare concessions given to the Sr.citizens is a cruel joke.
