NYK celebrates birth anniversary of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee

UDHAMPUR, July 6: Nehru Yuva Kendra Udhampur, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India celebrated 121st birth anniversary of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee in the office premises of NYK Udhampur. The event started with the chanting of National anthem by all the National Youth Volunteers. It was followed by the garlanding of portrait of Dr. S.P Mukherjee. On the occasion, District Youth Officer Khushal Gupta addressed the youth volunteers about the life and teachings of Dr. SP Mukherjee. He spoke about the steps taken by the great man for ensuring the partition of Bengal to prevent its inclusion in erstwhile East Pakistan.
Almost 100 youth volunteers and members of youth clubs participated different events across the district where works done by Dr. SP Mukherjee were also deliberated upon. They made posters, paintings and discussed his contribution in the freedom struggle. The role of Dr, Mukherjee in abrogation of Article 370 was also lauded since he was the first person to raise his voice on this issue both inside and outside the parliament. All the youth volunteers remembered his words "Ek desh mein do Vidhan, do Pradhan aur Do Nishan nahi challenge". His contributions towards many prominent organisations such as Mahabodhi Society, Rama Krishna Mission, Marwari Relief Society were also talked about. DYO Khushal Gupta addressed that the abrogation of Article 370 vis-à-vis special status of Jammu & Kashmir is the real tribute to Dr. Mukherjee by the present government. He added that the nation must always remember such great personalities and the youth must know about them to make ours a progressive nation
