GDC Kathua organizes Lecture Series 2022

KATHUA, July 6: The Department of Home Science, Govt. Degree College, Boys, Kathua organized 1st lecture of lecture series 2022 'current trends in the nutritional sciences and human development '. The lecture series will focus on different aspects of Home Science which directly affect our health and lives. The said lecture series will have 12 lectures spanning from nutrition, human development, yoga, physiotherapy and Ayurveda.
Principal GDC Kathua, Prof. Sumanesh Jasrotia was the Chief Guest on the occasion who gave insights on role of food and nutrition in today's era especially in non communicable diseases like diabetes mellitus, hypertension, cancer, etc.
Ist lecture was focused on Role of AYUSH in Immunity Boosting: Insights on traditional healthy foods. Speaker of the occasion was Dr. Shivani Padha, Medical Officer, AYUSH, Jammu. She provided information on ayurveda, medicinal foods available in kitchen gardens which help us fight many dreadful diseases and boost immunity. Ayurveda and yoga as way of life was what she concluded. Prof Raj Kiran and Prof Jaswinder Singh also gave their valuable time and suggestions in the event. Prof. Vishav Deepika, Head, Department of Home Science formally welcomed the Chief Guest and the invited speaker of the occasion. Prof. Rakesh Singh, Head, Department of Chemistry gave his valuable feedback of the event and motivated the organizers and students. The program was coordinated and conducted by Dr. Archana Bhat Sharma, Asstt. Prof. Department of Home Science. Formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Nitu Sharma, Asstt. Prof. Department of Home Science. Dr. Nitasha Bilora and Dr. Eva Sharma Asstt. Prof. Department of English provided their valuable time in organizing the event. Other senior faculty present on occasion were Prof. Seema Malpotra, Prof. Romila Guleria, Dr. Jogbinder Singh Sudan Dr. Neha Mahajan and Dr. Rachna Devi. The students from all streams actively participated in the lecture and we're awarded with certificates.
