JAMMU, July 6: Department of Botany, GGM Science College Jammu organized a webinar on the topic "FIGHT CYBER CRIME LIKE A SUPERHERO" in connection with the Cyber Jagrookta Diwas under the patronage of Principal, Dr. Ravender Tickoo and supervision of HoD Botany Prof. Bimla Devi; event Co-ordinators Dr. Fraz Ahmed and Dr. Lakhvinder Singh; Cyber Jagrookta Diwas Coordinator, Dr.(Capt.) Anjana Sharma and other faculty members from the Department of Botany.
Cybercrime, especially involving the Internet, represents an extension of existing criminal behaviour alongside some novel illegal activities.The webinar started with the welcome address by Dr. Fraz Ahmed who introduced the resource person Dr. Sourabh Shastri, Sr. Assistant Professor and Head MCA Department, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu to the audience. He is doctorate (Ph.D.) in Computer Science from University of Jammu and also qualified NET and SET examinations. His research interests include Knowledge Discovery, Machine Learning, Data Mining and Deep Learning. He has an overall teaching experience of 13 years. Dr. Shastri has published more than 30 research papers in SCIE, Scopus and UGC refereed journals and has 296 Google Scholar citations with h-index of 7 and i10- index of 4. He enlightened the participants with his knowledge and experience and covered different and important facets of cyber space, cyber law and cyber crimes etc in India. He emphasized upon the solutions how fraud prevention benefits your company or organization. He further stressed upon the detection and preventionof frauds like ATM fraud, File sharing and piracy, Understand Common Crimes and Risks Online, Hacking etc.
Dr. Ravender Tickoo, worthy Principal appreciated the efforts being put by all the organizing committee members and advised the students to take the right security measures, be alert and aware when connected, so as to prevent cyber intrusions and online crimes.
The webinar ended with the vote of thanks by Prof. Bimla Devi.
More than 100 students including NCC cadets, participated actively in the webinar.
