| KVK distributes Knapsack sprayers under NICRA Project | | |

JAMMU, July 7: In line with series of activities conducted under NICRA Project, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Poonch working under the auspices of Directorate of Extension, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) today conducted an awareness cum distribution programme at village Mangnar in which a large numbers of farmers including men and women along with public representatives participated at community hall of said village. The programme was held under the able guidance of Dr. J.P. Sharma, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, and Dr. S.K. Gupta, Director Extension, of SKUAST-Jammu. Speaking on the occasion, Sr. Scientist & Head of KVK Poonch, Dr. Ajay Gupta said that main purpose of today’s programme was to aware the farming community about the different types of plant protection mechanisms that should be put in place to lower the damage of various insect pests and diseases on various crops, fruits and vegetables. While distributing the knapsack sprayers among the farmers, he said that the knapsack sprayers have high efficiency, low maintenance rate of vulnerable parts, long spray distance and continuous operational use. On the occasion, Dr. M.A.Guroo, of KVK Poonch interacted with farmers about the prevalence of different types of insect pests and diseases during the current growing season. He advised the farmers to follow the crop rotation, crop diversity, intercropping etc. to lower the incidence of different types of insect pests. A diagnostic visit was also conducted by the KVK scientists for the redressal of farmers problems with regard to insects pests and diseases. Dr Ramandeep Kour, SRF NICRA also participated in the programme. The villagers thanked the KVK officials for conducting such a vital programme at village Mangnar and assured that farmers will follow the guidance received from the KVK scientists in protecting their crops from the damage of insect pests and diseases. |
