Two-week-long summer school on "Computer Vision" concludes

BHADERWAH, July 15: Two Week Summer School on Computer Vision (Under the KARYASHALA Scheme - A SERB initiative) Funded by: Science\ and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, under the Accelerate Vigyan Scheme Organized by: Department of Computer Science and IT, Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu concluded here today. The Programme was funded by science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, under the Accelerate Vigyan Scheme.
In the Summer School, 40 applicants from various Institutions of India which includes IIT, Mandi, CSIR Lab, Chandigarh, MRSTU, Bathinda, IIIT Nagpur, Delhi University, PES Bangalore, NIT Kurukshetra, GCW Parade Jammu and the offsite campus of the University of Jammu had applied and after screening, 18 Students had been shortlisted for the course.
In addition to it, a 4-week Internship in Digital Image Processing and Data Modelling Tools for Healthcare/Satellite Imagery is also running from 4 July 22-29 July 22 in which 13 Participants have applied and max 5 Participants were allowed to join as per DST. This 4 Week Internship, 5 Researchers from LPU, BGSB University Rajouri, CSIR Lab Chandigarh, IIIT Nagpur have joined the course and they will be working under Dr Ashok Sharma for the entire duration. This is the first in any state university in Jammu and Kashmir, these courses have been approved by DTS SERB for PG/PhD Students under State University Faculty.
In the Summer School and Internship, Participants have worked on Various Tools like Rapid Miner, Weka, Orange, Tableau, PyCharm and learnt how real-world problems can be mapped and solved using Artificial intelligence-based approaches.
Prof Umesh Rai Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu extended his best wishes on the occasion to organiser.
Dr Ashok Sharma, Assistant Professor was the main resource person in the event, he delivered 40 sessions on various tools for research, various opportunities for researchers at National and International level. Dr Ashok also took a session on writing a project proposal for DST,Book Chapter, Patent and copyright filling.
Dr Sandeep from Cardiff Metropolitan University, UK, Dr Om Jee from IIT, BHU, Dr Shashi from IIT Ropar, Dr Dharmendra from VIT Vellore, Dr Karan Nathwani from IIT, Jammu, Prof Sachin from LPU, Cheering from University of Jammu has also delivered a session on various topics related to the theme of the summer school.
