Early Times Report

KATHUA, July 15: Asserting that popular Government duly elected by the people is the only solution to end people’s miseries in Jammu and Kashmir, the J&K National Conference Provincial President has demanded conducting of elections to Jammu and Kashmir Assembly at the earliest.
The senior National Conference leader raised this demand during his visit to Nagri in District Kathua.
Provincial President Jammu National Conference, Rattan Lal Gupta interacted with the people across this region and took stock of the problems and issues faced by them. He also met the people living in the border areas of the region and listened to their woes and issues. Narrating the tale of their miseries the people told the NC leader that they suffer the most during rainy season due to dilapidated roads. They said that roads in Lohai Malhar and Bani areas are craving for timely repairs but nobody in administration is bothered to address this issue. Similarly people of border villages told the senior NC leader that government has not provided to them the promised plots at safer places till date and the bunkers made in the area are sub-standard and almost useless.
Rattan Lal gave them a patient hearing and assured them of taking up their grievances with the concerned authorities to get the same resolved at the earliest.
While addressing the gathering at Nagri, the senior National Conference leader accused the Bharatiya Janata Party led Union Government as well as its proxy government in Jammu and Kashmir of having failed on all fronts. He said that tall claims are being made regarding the so called unprecedented development, but the same are not visible anywhere on ground.
Questioning the J&K Administration on its claims, the senior NC leader said that bunkers constructed for border dwellers have become totally redundant due to water logging while the roads in this hilly region are lying in a pathetic condition for want of repairs. “Is this the development that the Administration is boasting of?” he asked.
Castigating the government for depriving the people of J&K of the most significant right to elect their government, Rattan Lal Gupta emphasized that only a representative Government duly elected by the people exercising their right to franchise can well understand the problems of the people. He added that the elected government is the only panacea to address people’s woes and demanded that elections to J&K Assembly are long due now and the same should be held at the earliest. He appealed to the people to teach BJP a lesson in the said election and end their miseries by voting for National Conference as it is the only secular party in letter and spirit.
