STD holds training session on BIFA portal

JAMMU, July 15: State Taxes Department (STD) today held a training session on Business Intelligence and Fraud Analytics (BIFA) Portal at Excise and Taxation Complex, Panama Chowk here in two sessions.
The first training session was conducted in the presence of Commissioner State Taxes, Dr Rashmi Singh.
Additional Commissioners, Administration and Enforcement, Jammu/Kashmir, Additional commissioner Tax Planning, Policy and Advance Ruling J&K, all the Deputy Commissioners of State Taxes, all the Assistant Commissioners and All the State Taxes Officers of both the divisions besides officers of the Kashmir division attended the meeting both in person and through video conferencing.
During the first training session, the resource persons, Deputy Commissioners, GSTN, Mohammad Saim and Bhagwan Patil, while imparting training to officers gave a brief Introduction about the features of BIFA portal. BIFA aims to detect tax evasion, empower the policy decision makers, provides real time actionable insights on detection of tax evasion, revenue assurance and value added services for tax payers.
The resource persons also highlighted about the uses of BIFA portal and said that it reduces the revenue leakages, enhances detailed network analysis, audit assessments of suspicious dealers and their detailed trend analysis by the concerned assessing authorities.
It also detects the anomaly/potential fraudulent transactions; identify outliers within similar peer groups by using graphs and algorithms, they remarked.
During the training session, a practical demonstration of BIFA portal was also held. It was also highlighted that BIFA provides a data base of Lead based Dash Boards, high Priority cases, missing tax payers and red flagging of the abrupt behaviour of tax payers in order to ensure effective revenue collection by the officials.
During the second Training Session it was highlighted that how BIFA can be helpful to SIU. The resource persons also said that a dedicated data Analytical team will be authorized with the access to the BIFA Portal which will be available during the office hours where the Circles Officers, Enforcement Officers can have their issues resolved via phone call or emails. More so, through BIFA, suspicious movement of goods can be traced in the real time, they highlighted.
During the training session, various SOPs for audit, Data analysis by assessing Circles and enforcements were also discussed and various queries related to BIFA were also resolved by the members of GSTN.
