Early Times Report

KISHTWAR, July 16: Sixty beneficiaries from scheduled tribe community including a handicapped person Mohammad Shafi Khatana, father of four children consisting of a daughter & three sons and wife were struggling to meet the requirements of his family due his helplessness being as handicapped but no more.
As per the details available with Early Times, two wards of Naidgam village falling under Panchayat Inderwal A of Block Inderwal in Kishtwar District having 100 percent ST population got as many as 60 housed sanctioned under Awaas Plus and PMAY Phase first.
In order to check the progress of these under construction houses, BDO Inderwal Tasleem Wani along with Sarpanch Ghulam Ali Wani, field staff visited village Naidgam and conducted physical inspection of under construction houses under Awaas plus (PMAY-G).
BDO Inderwal said that these people belongs to ST category and are very poor and had no source of income that they can construct good house for themselves. He said that Awaas Plus and PMAY-G schemes by the government give ray of hope to these poor people who are now going to live within Pucca house once they completed the construction of the house.
The villagers hailed the government efforts all showed their happiness & expressed thanks to government for this scheme of providing houses to houseless & those having Kucha houses. “I am very happy and thankful to government, BDO Inderwal and everyone who helps me in sanctioning this house under PMAY-G” said Shafi adding that he is waiting to get his dream house ready.
The village had suffered badly during militancy for being the most backward area of the Jammu and Kashmir and it was after the hectic efforts of police and army (11 RR) that peace was restored in the area. Army has also taken various people friendly initiatives in the area so that people could flourish like every other citizen of India.
