Govt GLDM Degree College Hiranagar organises Science Exhibition-2022

HIRANAGAR, July 16: GLDM Degree College Hiranagar organised Science Exhibition on the Theme "Green Earth and Sustainable Development" on 16th of July, 2022. This Exhibition was sponsored by J&K Sciences, Technology and Innovation Council, Department of Science and Technology, J&K-UT. The aim of organising this exhibition was to enable Young minds to generate innovative scientific ideas which will help to bring and sustain Socio-economic and Socio-ecological development of the Society. More than 300 students from various Schools and College of the UT and also from University of Jammu participated in the event.
Prof. (Dr.) Anil K. Raina, Former Head of Department of Environment Sciences, University of Jammu and Rector of Bhadarwah Campus, JU was the Chief Guest for the occasion whereas Prof. Sanjay Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of Environmental Sciences, University of Jammu and Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Senior Assistant Professor, Faculty of Life Sciences, Bhadarwah Campus, JU graced the occasion as the Resource persons.
The event was conducted in two rounds. In the first round, the participants displayed their Scientific Models & Charts which were Judged on various Parameters like innovation, creativity and justification of the theme. The Adjudicators for the Competition were Dr. C.P. Sharma, Dr. Neeraj Kumar, Dr. Ram Singh, Higher Education Department J&K formel faculty members, Prof. Rakesh Jasrotia, Associate Professor, Chemistry and Dr. Rakesh Attri, Assistant Professor Department of Environmental Science Jammu University. Mrs. Shruti Sharma, Assistant Director, J&K STIC, DST was also present on the occasion. The Exhibition was open for display to the other students and staff members after the judgement round.
The Second round, started with invoking the Goddess Saraswati by Lighting the Lamp and chanting of Saraswati Vandana presented by the students of Music Department and written and composed by Mr. Mukesh Kumar, Assistant Professor (Music). The Formal welcome address was delivered by Dr. Pragya Khanna, Principal of the College and Chief patron. Dr. Khanna encouraged the participants for their innovating ventures and also talked about the upcoming NAAC Peer Team Visit. The Newsletter of the College for the year 2022 branded as "PRATIBIMB" was also released during the event.
