7/22/2022 10:35:28 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 22: J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu under the leadership of President M K Bhardwaj, senior advocate held a protest today. The protest started from District Court Complex, Janipur, Jammu and it was carried out in support of long pending demands of lawyers' fraternity.
The Bar members abstained from work in all the courts including the High Court, District Courts, Tribunals & Commissions on account of the protest. All the office bearers namely Mohinder Pal Singh Pali, Vice President, Surjeet Singh Andotra, General Secretary, Aditya Sharma, Joint Secretary, Amandeep Singh, Treasurer, Rohit Sharma (YLA President), Gagandeep Singh Lucky (YLA Vice President), Yaseer Farooq Khan (YLA General Secretary), Karanjeet Singh Johal Joint Secretary (YLA), Naresh Kumar Treasurer (YLA), besides many senior & young lawyers participated in the protest. Pertinent to mention here that on July 18, 2022, the Bar Association held a protest in support of their demands and had urged upon the UT administration to immediately resolve all the demands of the legal fraternity without any further delay but the UT government has not taken any positive steps in this regard. Not only this, the Association several times had represented before the LG by way of memorandum, however, despite waiting for several months the administration neglected and failed to fulfil the genuine demands of the Association, compelling thereby the Bar Association to adopt the agitation mode.
Hundreds of lawyers assembled at District Court Complex and marched towards High Court road chowk holding National Flag in hands and chanting slogans to do Justice with them, and fulfill their genuine demands. They held strong protest in the High Court Chowk.
Advocate Bhardwaj categorically stated, "We staged our protest for second time today and we are warning the government to fulfil our demands failing which we would intensify our protest." He said that due to the shifting of the courts and tribunals outside the District Court Complex, lawyers fraternity and general public are facing insurmountable hardships as such they are seeking the housing of the different tribunals in single multi-dimensional complex of High Court.
Bhardwaj urged upon the UT government not to adopt delaying tactics in resolving the genuine long pending demands/issues of the legal fraternity. He said that in the event of failure to do the needful, the JKHCBA, Jammu, shall have no other option except to intensify the agitation in support of their demands. Many senior and young members of the J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu also spoke in the protest Dharna.
